Arranmore tourism gets a €13,000 injection

first_imgFine Gael Councillor Terence Slowey has welcomed Leader funding investment of €13,500 to help support two tourism enterprises on Arranmore Island. The Leader Funding Programme is an opportunity for rural projects, small businesses and communities that need an injection of funds to develop and improve, said Councillor Slowey said.He said “On Arranmore the Siopa Caife na Cultúrlainne, run by Comharchumann Árainn Mhór, is being funded with €5,917 to help pay for equipment and Noirin Mhaoldomhnaigh was awarded €7,595 to upgrade the B&B – both projects will go a long way to helping the tourism offerings on the islands. “Tourism is hugely important to the island. I’ve heard the concerns about the condition of the Lighthouse Road and I’m confident a resolution to secure the necessary roadworks and maintenance will be confirmed in the coming days.”The funding for the Leader projects on Arranmore is being provided through the Department of Rural and Community Development under Minister Michael Ring.Joe McHugh, Government Chief Whip and Minister for the Irish language, Gaeltacht and the Islands, said the Leader Programme has grown exponentially in the last year.He added “We want to see this kind of momentum continue and with that in mind I’d like to thank Donegal County Council Executives and their teams who I’m told are flat out making applications for Government funding supports this summer. “This is a far cry from the lack of funds that were available to County Councils a few short years ago in the wake of the recession.”Arranmore tourism gets a €13,000 injection was last modified: August 3rd, 2018 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Arranmore IslandfundingLeader Projectlast_img read more
