The Frogs dominated possession all night long and didn’t allow Kansas any scoring opportunities until late in the match. Bell praised his team for their efforts following the match.“I thought we played awesome,” Bell said. “We created a lot of scoring opportunities and had the ball for a large share of the game. Our defending was spot on and they didn’t have a lot of chances. Overall, it was a great performance in all three phases of the game.”Smith praised the crowd following the match, applauding their loud support on the night and for the entire season.“They’re always loud and energetic and that helped us out tonight,” Smith said. With the win, TCU is now 5-1 at home, the only loss coming to the hands of Northeastern. The game was the second overtime game the Frogs have played in this season, improving to 2-0. The game was TCU’s second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season. The Frogs will continue their three-game homestead as they face Kansas State, the Big 12’s newest member, Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. TCU baseball finds their biggest fan just by saying hello Two students joined harassment and discrimination lawsuit against TCU I am the executive editor of TCU 360 from Raleigh, North Carolina. An 81st minute foul by first-year defender Tijana Djuricek awarded Kansas a free kick that found an opening in the defense and an open goal, but a quick reaction by first-year defender Ariana Owens sliding in front of the goal saved the game for the Frogs.“Kansas is a pretty resilient group,” Bell said. “After that red card, they hunkered down and held us, fought and battled. Their goalkeeper made some great saves to keep them in it, so credit to them.”The first overtime period didn’t prove to be any different from regulation play. A majority of the 10 minutes in the period were played in the TCU attacking third, but the Frogs couldn’t convert. The strong attack for the entire night finally paid off for the Frogs. In the 106th minute, Smith scored her second goal of the season and second-career goal, both of which have been game-winners. I was very pleased with the entire performance over the entire game. The first half began with back-and-forth action as neither team was able to generate a quality scoring chance until the 11th minute of the game. A pass from sophomore goalkeeper Katie Lund made its way into junior midfielder McKenzie Oliver’s lap, immediately turning on the jets and blowing by two Jayhawks defenders. Oliver’s cross into the box to senior forward Emma Heckendorn was right on target, but Heckendorn’s shot soared over the crossbar. The Frogs continued to amp up the pressure as the half progressed. The best scoring chance in the first half for the Frogs came in the 25th minute. Heckendorn drove into the box and passed the ball out to freshman midfielder Yazmeen Ryan who ripped the shot to goal, but an incredible diving save by Kansas’ senior goalkeeper Maddie Dobyns shocked the crowd in what seemed to be a guaranteed goal. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie but TCU dominated and determined play for a majority of the half, outshooting the Jayhawks 11 to three with five corners in the half. The Horned Frogs maintained the pressure from the first half through the break and into the second period. In the 64th minute, the Jayhawks were forced with a tough task to overcome. A major head-to-head collision at midfield between Kansas’ senior midfielder Hannah Lukinac and junior midfielder Karitas Tomasdottir resulted in a red card and ejection for Lukinac. During the most pivotal point in the match, Kansas were forced to complete the match down a player.last_img read more

At least two media were targeted for threats and harassment by groups linked to the opposition to the government in La Paz, including the Juvenil Cruceñista Union (UJC), a radical militia that stemmed from the independence movement in Santa Cruz department.“Armed groups hostile to the government in La Paz are increasingly acting like predators on freedom of information,” the worldwide press freedom organisation said. “The recent autonomy referendums – in Santa Cruz on 4 May and yesterday in the departments of Pando and Beni – are adding to a climate of political tension in which the press is one of the first to be targeted”.Clashes between supporters and opponents of autonomy during the consultation process in Beni led to a variety of obstructions of the work of the press. In the department’s capital, Trinidad, members of the UJC systematically harassed special correspondents for state-run Canal 7 television. One of its journalists, René Martínez, said that the cables on its transmission vehicle were twice cut with machetes. “They managed to interrupt our programme twice this Sunday. Then as we were visiting schools for the vote count, the same youths insulted and threatened us”, he said. “Our cameraman, Edgar Quenallata, had to leave and I was forced to flee on a motorbike”, he told Reporters Without Borders.Meanwhile, in Riberalta, a group of pro-autonomy thugs chased after another team from Canal 7, forcing them to take refuge in the home of a local resident.Community, indigenous and peasant media, regularly targeted for racist violence by militia hostile to President Evo Morales, were not spared during the referendum violence in Beni. Gumersindo Yumani, of Coordinadora Audiovisual Indígena television was threatened in Nuevos Horizontes by militants of the Juvenil Riberalteña Union, a similar organisation to the UJC, who snatched his camera and handed it back with images deleted. Several other state media, considered close to the government, were harassed throughout the weekend, particularly the international TV Telesur, Canal Universitario de Trinidad, Televisión Boliviana, Radio Patria Nueva, the Bolivian News Agency (ABI) and the specialised Cinematography, Education and Production Centre (CEFREC).Reporters Without Borders urged that beyond a general commitment within Bolivia’s political class to basic freedoms, including freedom of information, that “all opposition political parties should publicly distance themselves from these regional militia and contribute to justice.” RSF_en Receive email alerts June 2, 2008 – Updated on January 20, 2016 Fresh upsurge of violence against journalists during autonomy referendumlast_img read more

All healthcare and frontline workers as specified by the Union Of India2. All citizens that are aged, or will attain the age of 60 years or more as on 1st January, 20223. All such citizens that are aged, or will attain the age of 45 years to 59 years as on 1st January 2022, and have anyspecified comorbidities (recommended by the National Expert Group and approved by the Government of India from time to time, subject to certification to that effect by a Registered Medical Practitioner.)Click Hear To Download/Read PetitionSubscribe to LiveLaw, enjoy Ad free version and other unlimited features, just INR 599 Click here to Subscribe. Ohio lawmaker proposes LeBron license plate

first_imgCleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James poses during NBA basketball team’s media day in this Oct. 3, 2009 file photo taken in Independence, Ohio. (AP Photo/Tony Dejak, File)CLEVELAND (AP) — An Ohio lawmaker wants to give the state’s motorists the chance to score a license plate honoring LeBron James.State Rep. Bill Patmon is planning to introduce legislation to permit the sale of a commemorative “LeBron James Witness 2.0” plate honoring the Akron native’s decision return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.“When LeBron came home, it was a big deal for us,” said the Democrat from Cleveland. “It might not be for the rest of the world, but it’s a big deal for Cleveland.”James, a four-time NBA most valuable player, was drafted by the Cavaliers in 2003 but left town for Miami after seven seasons. Last month, he announced he would re-sign with Cleveland. The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles offers more than 150 specialty plates, including one that Patmon pushed through the Legislature that honors comic book hero Superman. The Man of Steel was created by two Clevelanders, Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster, who grew up in the Glenville neighborhood that Patmon represents.“People from all over country and world called (the BMV) office about the Superman license plate,” Patmon said.Unfortunately for Superman’s out-of-state and international fans, they would have to register a vehicle in Ohio to get a plate, although Patmon thinks there’s an “after-market” for them as there would be for a LeBron James plate. The state currently does not offer any license plates commemorating a real person, dead or alive. Lindsey Bohrer, a spokeswoman for the Ohio BMV, is not aware that the state has ever had one.Ohio does have plates for more than two dozen Ohio colleges or universities, 40 with military themes, seven for professional sports teams and more than 80 others that tell let the motoring world know you are a prospective organ donor, an Eagle Scout or a “Friend of Coal.”The motor vehicle bureau charges $35 for most specialty plates plus an agreed-to amount that goes to charity. For example, a breast cancer awareness plate adorned with a pink ribbon, generates $25 for the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio.Patmon wants the LeBron James Family Foundation to receive the additional cost those plates would generate. He said he has spoken to James’ representatives.last_img read more

Home Unsweet Home—Steelers win some battles, but Baltimore wins the war, 26-14 (Oct. 3)

first_imgBALTIMORE RAVENS RB ALEX COLLINS played an instrumental role in the Ravens’ convincing win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football, Sept. 30, 26-14. (Photos by Courier photographer Brian Cook)There was once upon a time when fire-breathing dragons roamed the earth and professional football players that wore leather helmets roamed the gridiron with names like Jim Thorpe and Red Grange. There were miniature monarchs that ruled miniature kingdoms named George Halas, Arthur J. Rooney and Paul Brown. All of these “kings” understood that when you crossed the borders of another man’s “kingdom,” the chances of exiting that hallowed ground with a victory, more often than not, were slim and none.Fast forward to 2018. The Baltimore Ravens entered the “kingdom of steel” of the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday, Sept. 30. The Ravens did not place a “Trojan Horse” within the Steelers gates, only to surprise Pittsburgh as they slept. The men from B-more compromised the walls and tore down the gates, not defeating the Steelers by sneaking and attacking them from the rear, but defeating the men of steel face-to-face for the entire world to see. “General” Joseph Flacco had anticipated facing “General” Benjamin Roethlisberger in this most important battle, but the highly anticipated bloodbath was almost a one-sided battle as the Ravens began the battle slinging while the Steelers were just “singing.” Pittsburgh won a few skirmishes but Baltimore won the war. The final score: 26-14 Ravens. The Steelers now find themselves tied for last in the AFC North at 1-2-1 with the Browns.Come with me as we pause in retrospect for a moment or two. At the beginning of the 2018 NFL campaign, “General” Roethlisberger and his array of weapons were feared by many and disrespected by few. Roethlisberger could defeat you by land, by sea, above ground, below ground, in your kingdom, his kingdom or on neutral ground. It didn’t seem to matter. It was obvious to all that mattered that almost anyone that the Steelers faced were more than likely going to go down in defeat. It was not a question of why and how: the only question was when. However, there were stormy clouds gathering on the battlefront for the men of steel. The man charged with the placement and discharge of the weapons of the men of steel, “Colonel” Todd Haley, had been “exiled” from the “kingdom of steel” and took his experience to the Browns to help sculpture a new class of weaponry that the Orange and Brown team now possesses. There was now a new man in town to calculate and implement a new attack strategy for the Pittsburgh Steelers, his name is “Colonel” Randy Fichtner. “Colonel” Fichtner had been a close confidant to “General” Roethlisberger causing many to believe that the “unholy” alliance between he and the general was one of the deciding factors to “exile” “Colonel” Haley. From the beginning of his “tenure” with the Steelers, “General” Roethlisberger seemed to be dissatisfied with the battle plans of “Colonel” Haley and many times those with high stakes in the matter could see and sense a level of disdain exhibited toward “Colonel” Haley by “General” Roethlisberger at many times for no reason, mainly just because. “General” Roethlisberger did not accept or appreciate his new offensive strategist and by golly, by hook, or by crook “Colonel” Haley was going to meet a less-than-stellar end if “General” Roethlisberger and “Colonel” Fichtner had anything to do with it.They seemed to have prayed and waited, prayed and waited and now it appears as if their prayers were answered. As of this time, the walls of the steel kingdom have been breached twice in 2018 and may be breached again in less than a fortnight, as the Atlanta Falcons have been spotted flying toward Heinz Field at warp speed regarding reports that the demise of the Pittsburgh Steelers is nigh. It has been said in many circles time and time again,“Be careful what you pray for.”(Aubrey Bruce: [email protected]) Like us at https://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Pittsburgh-Courier/143866755628836?ref=hlFollow @NewPghCourier on Twitter  https://twitter.com/NewPghCourierlast_img read more
